Welcome to Southwell Care Project

Our History
Like many other charities set up to support people, the Southwell Care Project was established by a group of parents with common concerns. The parents responsible for establishing the Southwell Care Project had children who had learning disabilities, and discovered that they had common concerns around what would happen to their children, when they, the parents were no longer able to look after them. Most of these children had grown up in and around Southwell. With no provision in the community, parents were concerned that their children would have to move away from the area. A priority for the charity is to provide caring support for these offspring, at the appropriate time, and within the community with which they are familiar and where much of their support is to be found.

Our aim
- To organise accommodation with caring support for adults with learning disabilities, whilst encouraging independence appropriate to each person’s needs and aspirations.
- To create a Community Services programme for adults with learning disabilities to foster supportive relationships with in the community.
