We discuss
with people the options that are available to them when deciding
where to live.
The
decision to leave home, to move away from parents, or carers is
usually a hard one for all of us. Here at Southwell Care
Project, we support those who wish to change their living
arrangements. We do this by working in partnership with the
appropriate people and organisations to meet the needs of the
individual concerned.
This may
be:
Living
alone, with support when it is needed.
Living with
others, with support when it is needed.
Whatever
decisions are made about how and where to live in the future, it
is important to consider what will work best. Southwell Care
Project will help these decisions to be made, and support the
client to work with people who can help to achieve it.
For
example.
In March
2003 Southwell Care Project supported 4 people in their desire
to live independently. By working in partnership with Social
Services, Home Farm Trust (HFT) a private local landlord, and
Golden Lane Housing (part of Mencap) we have helped to secure 3
properties for these 4 people to live in. These homes are
furnished to a very high standard and have involved tenants
choosing décor and furniture. The tenants also helped HFT with
the interviews, to choose the staff who will support them in
their homes.
We put the
individual first, developing the service and the support to meet
these needs.
