Friends, family and
relationships
We offer all clients the
opportunity to have a Circle of Support.
We help people to be in
contact with their friends and family.
Circles of Support are
one of the keys to community developments. Those with a
learning disability are encouraged to share their aspirations
and dreams with people that THEY invite to be a part of their
Circle. These goals are then discussed and plans made to
implement them. At all times, with any necessary support, the
person with the learning disability is in control of their own
Circle.
Employment
We develop links with
all employment training and supported work placement agencies
including:
County Council Social Services
Mencap Pathways – (referrals via Social Services.)
Scope – workstep.
to ensure that all
avenues and opportunities are explored.
We make links with local
supportive companies.
We talk to clients about work type opportunities.
We make referrals to
agencies if people express an interest in working.
We make sure people know
about Job Centres and Disability Employment Advisors.
We act as advocates for
individuals to support referrals if required.
Leisure
We find out what this
community has to offer, and have this information to hand. We
make sure that people know about what is available in this
community.
We give people the opportunity to try out activities and to
match people to the opportunities which exist.
We endeavour to encourage on-going participation in chosen
activity in the community.
We work with community groups to promote inclusion of people
with disabilities in their clubs/activities.
Living Options
We will talk to people
about the options which are available to them when deciding
where to live (Click here to go to Living Options Page)
Healthy Living
We ensure that all clients are registered with the local
G.P’s surgery, and that they feel they are understood by their
GP.
We encourage people to think about eating healthily and to lead
as active a lifestyle as possible.
We offer the opportunity to learn new skills e.g. cookery and
social skills.
